Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates:
Spirit Airlines is closely tracking developments surrounding the COVID-19 coronavirus to help you plan your travel. This information includes answers to frequently asked questions meant to keep you safe and healthy, along with our flexible travel policy for Guests who must alter travel plans due to COVID-19. This page will be updated as new information becomes available.

Flexible Travel Policy
We recognize the potential uncertainty regarding travel plans during this time and offer the following flexible travel policy.
Spirit Guests who must alter their travel plans due to COVID-19 are eligible to receive a reservation credit for the full value of their reservation. This reservation credit can be used for up to 6 months to book any flight currently available (including beyond the 6-month timeframe), and it can be used towards flights as well as other options (excluding 3rd party products).

· Guests who cancel their reservation can request a refund of their travel insurance premiums from Travel Guard, if eligible, here.
· Guests needing to cancel or make changes to a reservation due to other circumstances are advised to make modifications to their reservation online.
Travel Advisories
The situation surrounding COVID-19 Coronavirus is evolving constantly, resulting in rapidly changing travel restrictions between countries worldwide. Some bans on travel between specific countries are already in effect. Others are likely to go into effect. Spirit Airlines recommends consulting official government travel resources for your countries of departure and arrival prior to flying.
Below are important travel advisories to ensure your trip is as smooth as possible avoid disruption on your day of travel.

Aruba
On March 15, the Government of Aruba announced a travel ban of foreign nationals effective March 17 through March 31. Aruban citizens, residents and diplomats are exempt from the travel ban.
- Legal residents of Aruba can show an Aruban driver’s license or Aruban ID card as proof at check in or baggage drop off.
- There are no travel restrictions in place for Guests departing from Aruba
Colombia
On March 15, the Government of Colombia announced a travel ban of all foreign nationals. Colombian citizens, legal residents and diplomats will be allowed to enter the country. This will be effective March 16.
Costa Rica
On March 16, the Government of Costa Rica announced a travel ban of all foreign nationals. Costa Rican citizens, legal residents and diplomats will be allowed to enter the country. This will be effective March 18 through April 12.
Dominican Republic
On March 17, the Government of the Dominican Republic announced that they will be closing all airports effective March 19 for at least 15 days. No travel in or out of the country will be permitted.
Ecuador
On March 14, the Government of Ecuador advised that they will be closing all borders inclusive of airports effective March 17 until further notice. No travel in or out of the country will be permitted.
El Salvador
On March 11, the Government of El Salvador announced a travel ban of all foreign nationals. Salvadoran citizens, legal residents and diplomats will be allowed to enter the country. This is effective March 11.
Guatemala
On March 16, the Government of Guatemala advised that they will be closing all borders inclusive of airports effective March 17 until further notice. No travel in or out of the country will be permitted.
Honduras
On March 15, the Government of Honduras advised that they will be closing all borders inclusive of airports effective March 15 for at least 7 days. No travel in and out of the country will be permitted.
Jamaica
On March 17, the Government of Jamaica announced a quarantine effective March 18 and will last 14 days. All Guests entering Jamaica will be required to self-quarantine for up to 14 days. Guests staying in hotels will be required to observe the quarantine rules as determined by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
Panama
On March 15, the Government of Panama announced a travel ban of foreign nationals effective March 17. Panamanian citizens, residents and diplomats and persons in transit with connecting flights within 12 hours of arrival are exempt from the travel ban.
Peru
On March 15, the Government of Peru advised that they are closing all borders inclusive of airports effective March 16 for at least 15 days. No travel in and out of the country will be permitted.
Saint Martin/Sint Maarten
On March 14, the Government of Saint Martin announced a travel ban of passengers from a number of international countries including the United States of America. This will be in effect as of March 17 and will last for at least 2 weeks.
What we’re doing to protect you
Spirit continues to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and remains in close contact with authorities to further ensure the safety of our Guests and Team Members. We are following current CDC procedures related to “Preventing Spread of Disease on Commercial Aircraft.” Below is some information on our procedures.
The disinfectants we use on our planes have been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as effective against COVID-19 coronavirus. We have sent additional cleaning chemical supplies to our stations, increased our onboard supply kit quantities for our inflight teams, and expanded the cleaning protocols that our teams utilize on aircraft, focusing on high frequency touch points such as handles, seatbelt buckles, tray tables and armrests.
- Our all-Airbus fleet is equipped with state-of-the-art high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters that capture 99.97 percent of particles.
- Spirit crew are trained to report and address infectious diseases and work closely with industry leader MedAire for ground and inflight expert medical assistance.
What our Guests can do
- If you are feeling ill, follow the recommendations of your medical professional. Guests who are traveling from restricted areas and/or present themselves with a respiratory illness will be medically assessed and may be denied boarding.
- Follow these preventative actions provided by the CDC to help keep yourself safe and prevent the spread of respiratory diseases.
- Guests are welcome to travel with extra antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer. Please note the TSA limit of on liquid of 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item.
